Our Reconciliation Action Plan
The culture and diversity of our practice is fundamental to our business of providing exciting and meaningful spaces for people to live, work and learn. Our engagement with stakeholders and communities outside of our practice provides the inspiration, understanding and grounding to our design work. We will continue to evolve our understanding of designing with Country and look forward to fostering relationships with First Nations communities and the broadening our cultural understanding, through participation in cultural learning and training opportunities.
The development of our first RAP provided us with a framework for our journey to better understand the land where we undertake projects and the opportunity to engage and develop relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples that will allow our work to integrate and reflect the people and culture of those lands.
We look forward to expanding upon our RAP and expanding our relationships and connections with First Nations leaders, communities and artists.
ABOUT OUR RAP ARTWORK: We come together on common ground, bringing our ideas, thoughts, inspirations and lessons from the past to create spaces to play, learn and grow. Once the creation is complete, we are forever joined by song lines of success, growth and creativity. In the middle of the art you can see 2 campsites with song lines between them, joining in a mutual gathering space. These campsites represent each of our offices- one in Canberra and the other in Perth. The mutual gathering space in the middle shows people sitting around in a traditional way. When we meet with our clients we sit and listen and share ideas, creating together. The song lines leading from this central gathering space represent the different designs and projects we have completed and show that even after the work is complete, we are forever connected in story and kinship.
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Sharee Thomas is a Gandangara and Tharawal woman who works as a primary teacher in a school where Munns Sly Moore has completed many projects. She has only recently entered into the world of creating art pieces that represent the people she works, lives and learns with.
